CrystaLac Universal Paint and Primer is a highly pigmented, Bonding Primer and Paint Base that provides great coverage using 1 to 2 coats. It contains stain blockers to stop tannins from bleeding through to the surface. Easy to use and water clean-up. It adheres to most surfaces providing they are clean and do not have any waxes or polishes on them. Works well as a Primer/ & Bonding undercoat but also contains plenty of pigment and polymers to make a high quality Furniture and Craft Paint. Universal White can easily be tinted with just a little dab of CraftNique Color Boutique Concentrated Colors to make endless color combinations.

Use our CraftNique Recipe book for easy to make standard colors or be creative and make your own colors.

Universal Paint & Primer self-levels and won’t turn yellow with age.

The possibilities with Universal Paint and Primer are endless.

For Stain Blocking Primer, use straight as is.

Add Color Boutique Colors and you’ve got a great full coverage furniture paint.

Make your own Chalk Paint by adding a little calcium carbonate.

For White Wash – Mix 1 part Universal White to 3 parts of any CrystaLac Top Coat. Add a little Color Boutique Concentrated Pigment to that and you’ve got a Colored Wash.

For White Satin or Matte Top Coat - Mix half and half Universal White with CrystaLac Extreme Protection Polyurethane Satin or Matte.

All CrystaLac products (including Stains) can be intermixed with each other to create endless color and topcoat possibilities.

Instructions: Brush Universal Paint and Primer onto a clean, wax free, scuff sanded surface using thin, even coats. Sand lightly with 400 grit sandpaper to smooth out any pigment particles. Allow 2 to 4 hours drying time between each coat and topcoats. When using on a tumbler, let dry for 4 hours before recoating. Do not use stearated sandpaper or tack cloths. To spray, it may be necessary to thin Universal White with CrystaLac Viscosity Reducer/ Retarder – which will thin and also extend the dry time.

Note: For best stain and tannin blocking results, allow the first coat to dry for 24 hours before recoating. This helps to seal the wood properly.
